3 Round Butte Dam And The Cove Palisades

Round Butte Dam Overlook

The Round Butte Dam is deep in the gorge of the Metolius river. It is just North of The Cove Palisades, so it makes a convenient stop where a drone isn’t even required.
Las Vegas can only eat its heart out with envy at the amount of water in these huge reservoirs—especially as Lakes Mead and Powell drop to crisis levels.

The Cove Palisades

The Cove Palisades is a large state park in which the Crooked River splits around a long, towering promontory which looks like the head of a dragon or a crocodile.
The long river arm on each side of the promontory has its own bridge, so you can enter the park from either side, cross a bridge to the central cliffs and exit on the other side.
There are also excellent views of Mount Washington and the Sisters volcanos from atop the cliffs. Quite a dramatic setting!
