Leo Carillo Beach North of Malibu
Fall 2016

On a visit to Los Angeles to the western branch of the Roessler family, my son Paul volunteered to look for good drone flying sites.
We drove up the coast past Malibu, up over the mountains into the valley—and were confronted with an ocean fog-like haze reducing visibility everywhere.

Increasingly frustrated, we drove past Leo Carillo Beach. Suddenly, the haze seemed to clear. You can see it in some of these videos North and South of us. We were in a sweet spot for clear air and sunlit waves and beach.

I flew the drone back and forth above the surf, looking for different views during a ten-minute flight. People walking their dogs, sea lions in the water, penguins and sea gulls on the rocks—enjoy the details!
