Shoshone Falls In Idaho At Full Flood 2017

Aerial Photography Using Drones

This colossal falls (known as ‘The Niagara of the West’) has long been a favorite for its size and drama. My earlier visits have been in Summer, when the sunlight offered richer color but some of the water is diverted to farms in the area.

2017 is a year of exceptionally heavy rainfall, with much flooding in Idaho. This is the year to go all over the northwestern states in search of big waterfalls in full flood!

Of course, a rainy year implies many cloudy days, and I had them. There were at most three hours of hazy brightness, and I tried to make the most of them.

Flying a drone around this waterfall is a one-trick pony, of course, but there are many angles from which to enjoy the pony.
