Glenns Ferry is a community along the highway between Twin Falls and Boise.
Among other things, it is the site of one of the most dangerous crossings for settlers traveling West on the Oregon Trail. Three Island Crossing has a nearby knoll we can use to look down on the islands and up the Snake River. The river runs right through the downtown area, offering more flights over the river.
At a spot along the highway called Little Basin, we have a commanding view out over the river—and by chance, a veeeeery long freight train appeared while I had the drone up taking a video. Pure luck.
On both the North and South sides of the river, there are large wind farms, not unusual for a state with a reputation for being windy. The days I was there were very calm, great conditions for drone flying near the towers.
