Libby Dam, Koocanusa Reservoir And Koocanusa Bridge
Montana Summer 2016

Aerial Photography Using Drones

The Libby Dam is an immense structure on the Kootenai River in western Montana. Libby creates a reservoir almost 100 miles long, roughly half of which is in Canada.

There are excellent roads connecting scattered recreational facilities along the coastlines; the eastern and western shores are connected by the long, scenic Koocanusa Bridge.

The drones were useful in giving us a fuller view of the scale and beauty of this immense complex.

Parenthetically, the name ‘Koocanusa’ was the winner of a contest, combining bits of Kootenai, Canada and the USA.
