This lake is another damming of the Rio Grande, lying to the South from Elephant Butte Lake. Like most of the artificial lakes, sections of the coastline are developed as park land so that guests can enjoy boating, fishing and other water sports.
The dam is at the South end of the lake, as the Rio Grande runs North-South in this region..An access road runs across the dam, and below, another road leading to a camp site. That turned out to be a good launch site for the drone, and there was another area just North of the dam where the drone could fly out and look back down on the long dam.
