The colossal volcano with the destructive past (1980) towers above the three lakes along the Lewis River (see map).
I drove as far up the side of the volcano as I could, then flew 4,500 feet out to get a portrait of the summit.
Then I went back down the road to the river and flew at each of the three lakes.
