When the North Platte River leaves Pathfinder Dam, it flows northeastward through the tortuous Fremont Canyon and pours into Alcova Reservoir. Alcova is a bit closer to Casper, so it has been developed with a number of beaches and campsites around its coast. I flew from several of them on a Saturday when the boating action was everywhere.
The profusion of boaters provides a wealth of activity to liven up drone videos with motion.
As the river exits from Alcova, it passes through the small gem known as Grey Reef Dam. This is a fine drone-flying spot, with the beach a short distance from the dam, a good-sized flow of water and a gorgeous view above the river.
